Just sitting here pondering my long run with “The Dog”. She is happy to get some attention and I am happy to relax before I attempt my longest run. Last year at this time my longest run was 6 miles. Now I want to make between 15 – 18 miles.
I did take the good advice I got yesterday from Russ and others and took the day off of running. We just did some shopping and I cut the hedges. So I got a workout in anyway.
Today I plan on mixing up my route a bit. I have a 7 mile route in our neighborhood that I run on long days. Today however, I plan on running 2 five mile loops and then do the 7 mile route. That will allow for me to come by the house and drink some water along the way.
Here is hoping for the “zone” that David mentioned. I’m really going to try to make it a steady run and just see what happens.
Good plan for looping by the house for fluids. I’ve been doing that on my long runs and grabbing a gel then too. Have a banana or orange when you stop for your break if you don’t have energy gels.

Enjoy! Don’t worry about your time on long runs… just keep putting one foot in front of the other at a comfortable pace. Play a Seinfeld episode or two in your head… works for me! 🙂
Ha. Everything can relate to Seinfeld!!! Pace has defiantly been an issue on my long days. By the way, I thought about riding a bike yesterday but the tires were flat and I couldn’t find the pump. I was impressed with your ride. Also a bit jealous of you getting to ride through beautiful Vermont. Congrats.

Looping by the house is a great idea! I did it for my 20-miler, when I consumed 96 oz. of G2 and had a stash by my front door. Good luck, and can’t wait to hear how it went.
Thanks! It did go well. I only made 15 miles though. I probably should have kept with the 5 mile loop rather than going for the last 7. Live and learn. 🙂
