We are well on our to finishing our first marathon. At 3:25 we passed the 22 mile mark. Only a mere 4.2 to go. Piece of cake!
Our 20 Mile Update
At 3:01our marathoner crossed the 20 mile threshold. We are now entering uncharted territory.
And Yet Another Update
Our intrepid warrior crossed the hit the 17 mile mark at 2:29:43 … more or less.
Another Update From the Field
At the 2:07 imark, we crossed the 15 mile point. Of course these updates are coming via text from our runner so there may be a slight delay.
Half Way There
At 8:49, (or 1:49 in to the race), our hero sent a text that simply read “Half”. A true multi-tasker if ever there was one!
Marathon Update
Well Father and son should be an hour and half into the race at this point. So far the automatic race updates that are to be sent to my phone have not arrived. That being said, the weather is perfect for a marathon, and I’m sure they’re doing great.
If the updates come, I’ll post them. If not, we’ll have to wait with baited breath for the final results
Marathon start
Made it to the marathon
Made it. Went to the wrong place and then had to sit is big traffic jam. 10 minutes to opening ceremony.
Here we go!!!
Marathon updates
My brother Jeff has graciously agreed to post updates of my race as he gets them in real time. My marathon starts at 7:00 AM Eastern, so if you are interested, check here off and on tomorrow morning for updates. I’ve asked him not to post my final time, so that I can do that personally. 🙂
Right now it is to be high 50s in the morning, getting up to 70 by 11:00.
Final Thoughts before tomorrows marathon
Here we are in Bethlehem PA (near Allentown) about to go down to breakfast and prepare for our day and get ready for the Lehigh Valley Marathon tomorrow.
We have a fun day ahead of eating, picking up our race bibs, eating, watching football, eating… you get the point here.
My thoughts on tomorrows race. Overall very positive. I haven’t run much over the past week, 6 miles in all. So my body feels much better and happier. My only issue, and one of the reasons I haven’t run, is the top of my left foot where I tie my shoe is still hurting. I’m sure I could run on it, but I am pretty sure it will impact my performance. Nothing I can do about it now.
I am so excited. Tomorrow at this time the race will be starting and I will be on another leg of my journey.
I am excited for TJ also. He has trained so hard, averaging 70 – 80 miles a week. He will do fantastic.
So away we go. I’ll post some updates throughout the day and tomorrow as I can. Unfortunately I got a rental car for the trip and no one under 25 can drive it. I’m the only one over 24 on this trip. So after the marathon, we head back to the hotel and pack the car and I drive 3 hours to my mom’s.
Needless to say, I’ll try to post after I finish, but I imagine it will be a one liner. Lord willing I’ll be done between 10:30 and 11:00 Eastern.
One again, and I never say this enough, THANK YOU for taking part in my journey. I honestly know I would not be this ready if it weren’t for all your help and encouragement.
Just arrived
We just arrived in Bethlehem PA. Been driving since 4:00 AM. We are tired and excited. It is truly a good life!!!
